Light Yagami, also known as Kira, is a central character in the Death Note franchise. He first appears in the 2006 anime series Death Note.
He's a brilliant high school student who discovers a mysterious notebook with the power to kill anyone whose name is written in it. Initially driven by a desire to rid the world of criminals and create a perfect society, Light's actions progressively become more morally questionable.
